Hey Feelings in practice

A conversation does not always begin with words.

A game, card or shared movement can give a child some safe distance. Hey Feelings creates a starting point for one-to-one, pair and small-group work.

A child does not have to talk about themselves right away.

Sometimes it is easier to talk about a character, a card or what happens in a game. This form can help start contact without pressure for direct disclosure.

One tool, different ways of working

  1. 1

One-to-one: pause at an emotion, question or story that matters to the child.

  2. 2

In pairs: talk about a relationship, conflict or shared experience.

  3. 3

In a small group: use an activity that gives each child space.

A format adapted to the child

You can shorten a session or reduce the number of stimuli.

You can choose a simpler question or part of the game.

You decide when and how to use the tool.

A tool that supports specialist work.

Hey Feelings does not diagnose, provide therapy or offer a ready-made interpretation of a child. The specialist retains clinical judgement.
